The Saracen Armoured Personnel Carrier.
Produced by Alvis ltd, Coventry. Production started in 1952 and the vehicle saw regular use by the British forces unto the early 1970s, with some units retaining them until the early 1980s.
The RAF Regiment used the Saracen in helping to keep the peace on the “green line” in Cyprus during the mid-1960s.
No3 Wing and 5 Squadrons under command were the first British forces to enter Nicosia on 27 December 1963.

The vehicles had a crew of 12 (including driver and commander) and was armed with a 7.62mm machine gun.
It had a top speed of 72 kph and a range of 400km.
