BOFORS 40MM L40-70

More complex and more effective than the 40/60 which saw distinguished service in WW2, the 40/70 served the Regiment well in many parts of the world from 1957 until 1978 and the introduction of the Rapier missile system. More complex and more effective than the 40/60; the 40/70 L3 served The Corps well in many parts of the world, which included – Germany. Cyprus, Malaya and Belize, until it was phased out in 1978. The L70 was powered by a 27 5 KVA Meadows Generator but could also be operated by hand.
A gun detachment consisted of 8 men.
