A very enjoyable and informative visit. Thanks to our guide Terry for a warm welcome and tour. Also to Ivan for giving guidance on researching past members of the Regiment.

As an Old Brit and a great supporter of all our Armed Services and particularly the Royal Air Force I was unaware of the RAF Regiment Heritage Centre at RAF Honington until a few weeks ago and living in the area for most of my life I was really surprised..
At the beginning of November my Son, Cousin and I went through the Security Process and duly arrived at the Station Entrance at the specified time.
Our arrival at the Main Gate was pleasantly and efficiently handled and we were escorted to the Heritage Centre.
Upon entry we were met by the Centre Curator and a number of other great volunteers most of whom had served in the Regiment before retiring. Our welcome was extremely friendly and we were immediately offered an excellent Mug of Tea and some nibbles and briefed on our Tour..
The Centre was extremely well designed, magnificently laid out and contains many exhibits from documents, armoured vehicles and firearms. The Curator gave us a most excellent tour through the history of the Regiment lasting around two hours. Every aspect of time was described and every question was answered, again in a most friendly manner.
We all departed feeling quite humbled like visiting dignitaries thinking how brilliantly the RAF Regiment have served our country. True Unsung Heroes and we would certainly recommend that anyone who is interested in such matters should attend and support this brilliant Heritage Centre.
Thank you all very much again for a Great Visit.

As an ex Rock I really enjoyed my visit to the Heritage Centre. I also learned quite a fair deal about my old Regiment. I was surprised when our escort, Mac, arrived at the guardroom to meet us. The first thing he said was Hi Phil, 48 Squadron 1982. I hadn’t seen him since the mid 80s and he picked me out in an instant. As we arrived at the Centre I was more surprised when I heard Hi Phil from Cliff, another ex 48 guy, he recognised me as he drove past at the main gate, I must have an unforgettable mug. The tour was conducted by Mac and was both very informative and entertaining. We also did plenty of personal reminiscing about old times and old mates. SUPERB and worth the 5hr drive to Honington and overnighting in a hotel not far away.

A superb visit to the Heritage Centre. I was very surprised when my guide turned up and his first words were ‘Phil 48 in 82’. It was Mac who I served with 40 years ago. He guided me to the centre where I bumped into Scouse, another ex 48 Squadron guy of the same era, he recognised me as he drove past at the main gate.
We then started the tour that was carried out in a very relaxed, informative and casual manner. During the tour I learned quite a bit about my old regiment even though I served 13 years. There was plenty of time for questions, discussions and photos which were encouraged. About half way round we stopped for a brew and a chat at the NAAFI wagon. There were plenty of sandbags to sit on around the tilley lamp for more discussions. The staff of the centre were very knowledgeable both of the Regiment history and of all of the equipment in the centre.
A brilliant few hours spent and worthy of the trip from Bristol. Yep, I will return.
